Summer Camp

Athens Summer Camp

Camp BOOST 2019 was success!  This past summer, close to 50 campers (aged 6-13) participated in our 3-week program, which included daily team sport activities (i.e., soccer, kickball, whiffleball, football) and swimming at the indoor on-campus pool.  For the rest of the day, campers engaged in classroom activities conducive to academic success, including organizational skills training.  On Fridays, campers participated in on-site “Fun Friday” activities, such as water games and video game marathons.  Campers were supervised by highly qualified, well-trained graduate and medical students as well as undergraduates specializing in education, exercise physiology, communication sciences, social work, and psychology.  Notably, we also completed three research projects: one examining the effect of exercise on mood and behavior, one comparing different methods of improving organizational skills in the classroom, and another examining associations between ADHD and specific forms of anxiety. Findings from these studies will be submitted for publication in scientific journals.
