Center for Intervention Research in Schools
The Center for Intervention Research in Schools (CIRS) is made up of Ohio University faculty, staff and students who are dedicated to improving the lives of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral problems through school-based interventions and supports. The CIRS team strives to conducts cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research, provides training experiential learning opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students, and offers quality services to children, families and schools.
School Mental Health: Promoting meaningful engagement, interventions and leadership
Dr. Evans, Dr. Owens and colleagues recently published the Handbook of School Mental Health: Innovations in Science and Practice.

- Congratulations to Yuika Iwai, recipient of the prestigious JASSO Overseas Study Support Program.
- Congratulations to Bryn Burnham for being a finalist in the OU undergraduate 3-minute thesis competition.
- CIRS graduate students received their Master’s degree (Brockstein, Glatt, Hightower-Henson, Vitucci, Everly earning an MBA) or Doctoral degree (Dr. Samamtha Margherio) on Saturday Dec. 16.
- Congratulations to graduate student Levi Toback on receiving the “Outstanding Psychology Trainee Award” from the Ohio Psychological Association! Also congratulations to Levi on successfully proposing his dissertation project!
- Graduate student Samantha Margherio will begin her work this fall as an assistant professor of psychology in the Clinical Science program at Virginia Tech University.
