The Project to Learn About Youth – Mental Health

The Project to Learn about Youth (PLAY) project is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through the University of South Carolina’s Disability Research and Dissemination Center. The project, which is being conducted at four sites across the country, is designed to identify the rates of social, emotional and behavioral problems in youth ages 5 through 17, and to understand rates of mental health services use and barrier to care among those seeking services for at-risk youth. Drs. Owens and Evans are excited to be collaborating with school professionals and families the Lancaster City School District to conduct the project. During the fall semester, the collaborative university-school team will engage in the project planning process, with the goal of starting the screening and assessment processes in the spring semester. If you have questions or are interested in learning more about the project, contact  the Center  (877-724-4241).
